School Workshops

MediaKids will come to your school and organise an animation workshop that will inspire your children and compliment the curriculum.

Pure animation workshop £199
This is available for half-class groups (approximately 15 children) in sessions of about 45 minutes. Usually we get through four groups in one day.

Our instructor is an experienced primary teacher who is a specialist in film production and animation. He will take your pupils through all of the steps necessary to produce a high quality ‘blockbuster movie’. The workshop covers a range of skills which both compliment and extend on the Primary Framework and foundation curriculum.

Each school will receive a free DVD featuring the children’s films and
animations. This can be used for assessment and is a valuable keepsake of the children's work.
Why not invite parents, governors and friends of the school to a special premiere after school or during assembly?

A copy of the DVD can be bought by the parents of children in that class as a keepsake.

Each school will have different requirements depending on how many classes they have in each year group and how long they want the animation sessions to be. We recommend 45 minutes to an hour for each group. It saves time if the children have already made their plasticine character as this alone can take half-an-hour. Schools with less groups will get better results as they will have more time to record their own voices and edit their movies. An example timetable is provided in the link at the bottom of this page.

It is helpful if a teaching assistant is available for each group.

It is difficult to move the equipment around, so ideally we would need to use a small hall or general work room for the day. In some cases the ICT suite or a classroom may be suitable. We will discuss your schools own individual needs.

Watch: The Story of Perseus and Medusa

This was made by a year 5 class based on their myths and legends topic.
